A wholesome blend of oats, cinnamon-spiced apples, and crunchy walnuts for a nutritious start.

# What You Need:

→ Oats Base

01 - 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
02 - 1 cup milk, dairy or plant-based
03 - 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
04 - 1 tablespoon chia seeds
05 - 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
06 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
07 - Pinch of salt

→ Cinnamon Apples

08 - 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced
09 - 1 teaspoon unsalted butter
10 - 1 tablespoon maple syrup or brown sugar
11 - 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
12 - 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

→ Toppings

13 - 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
14 - Extra maple syrup or honey for drizzling, optional

# Steps:

01 - In a medium bowl, combine rolled oats, milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, maple syrup or honey, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir thoroughly until evenly incorporated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate overnight for a minimum of 8 hours.
02 - Melt unsalted butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add diced apple, maple syrup or brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and lemon juice. Cook while stirring occasionally until apples soften and develop light caramelization, approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Transfer to a plate and cool completely.
03 - Remove the chilled oat mixture from the refrigerator and stir to redistribute ingredients. Layer or swirl the cooled cinnamon apples into the oats.
04 - Top the oat mixture with toasted walnuts. Drizzle additional maple syrup or honey if desired. Serve chilled.

# Expert Pointers:

01 -
  • It's ready the moment you wake up, no rushing or complicated steps when you're groggy.
  • The texture contrast between creamy oats and crunchy walnuts makes every spoonful interesting.
  • One batch actually lasts two mornings, so you're really getting ahead of yourself.
02 -
  • Toast your walnuts in a dry skillet for just two minutes—it transforms them from pleasant to absolutely necessary.
  • The lemon juice in the apples is not optional; it's the difference between something that tastes right and something that tastes memorable.
03 -
  • Make your overnight oats in a mason jar with a tight lid, so you can shake and go, or portion them into smaller containers for grab-and-serve convenience.
  • If your oats seem too thick in the morning, add a splash more milk and stir until they reach the consistency you want—they continue to absorb liquid as they sit.
