This is one of my favorite holiday appetizers to serve because it always delights guests of all ages with its creative design.
Ingredients
- Hummus: 2 cups classic hummus (store-bought or homemade)
- Decorations (Snowman Features): 2 black olives (for eyes and buttons), 1 small carrot (for nose and arms), 1 red bell pepper (for scarf), 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (for decoration), 1 tablespoon olive oil (for drizzling), 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or black sesame seeds (for eyes/buttons optional)
- Dippers: Sliced cucumbers, Baby carrots, Bell pepper strips, Gluten-free crackers or pita chips
Instructions
- Step 1:
- Spread the hummus in a large, irregular puddle shape on a serving platter to resemble a melted snowman.
- Step 2:
- Slice one black olive into small rounds for the eyes and buttons.
- Step 3:
- Peel and cut a small piece of carrot into a triangle for the snowmans nose. Use thin strips or matchsticks from the carrot to form arms.
- Step 4:
- Cut the red bell pepper into a thin strip to form a scarf, and shape as desired.
- Step 5:
- Arrange the olive pieces, carrot pieces, and bell pepper on top of the hummus to form the snowmans face, buttons, arms, and scarf.
- Step 6:
- Drizzle olive oil lightly over the hummus for shine and flavor. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and sesame seeds if desired.
- Step 7:
- Arrange the dippers (cucumbers, carrots, bell pepper strips, crackers) around the platter.
- Step 8:
- Serve immediately with additional dippers if desired.
